This condition is one that comes on over time. It’s primary cause is the tendon weakens over time or actually ruptures. This concern with the tendon advances to a condition known as (PTD) or adult acquired flat foot.

PTD can cause the foot to change and lead to function, position and painful mobility. This condition can also lead to painful ankles, arthritis, tendon pain, sense of tiredness due to the body compensating for the concern.

Conservative treatment is highly successful. We try to keep to conservative measures as surgery is rarely indicated.

There are certain tests and physical exams that can help us determine your specific problem.

Most of the time we can successfully manage PTD with orthotics. Sometimes AFO’s are used depending on the severity.
